If you watched SEA AND BE SCENE TV's 2014 Celebrating the SEAson Special then you'll know....

No surprise then, that this easy to make recipe for Candy Cane Bark has been a holiday favourite around our house for a long, long time! sb

MARTHA STEWART LIVING dec98jan99 coverIt wasn't until I was put in charge of my parents annual Christmas soiree in Orillia, Ontario that I realized it made the perfect party take-away.

A few large pieces in a festive cello bag make for a tasty "thanks for coming" treat or the ideal sweet for those surprise pop-in people throughout the holidays.

Huge credit to Martha Stewart - who provided that oh so delightful Peppermint Bark recipe way back in the Dec. 1998/Jan.1999 issue of LIVING.

2 pounds white chocolate, chopped into small pieces to make melting easier

12 large peppermint candy canes

1/2 teaspoon peppermint oil

Line a baking sheet with parchment, and set aside.

In the top of a double boiler, melt white chocolate, stirring constantly.

Stir pieces of candy canes and peppermint oil into the melted chocolate.

Remove from heat, and pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet; spread evenly.

Chill until firm, 25 to 30 minutes.

Break into pieces, and serve.

If you watched our 2017 Holiday Segments you would have seen the sweet stars - made following this recipe and then filling a silpat tray of miniature stars (pack fill molds and scrape top of tray to ensure a clean star with no bits hanging over) Chill for at least 30 minutes in - then pop out and enjoy!!!
