GR’8 Birthday Salute from Greg Hawco

Posted: July 2, 2018

Seriously!!! How cool is this?

Today's #SABS8 GR'8 Salute not only comes from the acclaimed Mirvish Theatre stage in Toronto, but it comes courtesy of one of our favourite #NLfellas.

The wonderfully talented conductor, composer and multi-instrumentalist we've come to know and love as Greg Hawco!!!

Enter his name and you'll be eligible to WIN a copy of "Challengers of the Sea" by Jim Wellman as our daily prize for July 2nd, 2018 and qualify for our GREAT STAY grand prize draw.

If you're wondering how Mr.Hawco comes to find himself in the wings of the Mirvish well I can proudly tell you he's taking a break from one the theatres most celebrated productions to celebrate SEA AND BE SCENE's GREAT 8 Birthday - Greg is part of the Toronto Company for the Broadway smash COME FROM AWAY!

We had a great chance to get the inside scoop on Greg's role in COME FROM AWAY on  SEA AND BE SCENE...And HEARD this past March (you can listen to the podcast version here). We also got the inside track on Greg's compositions to TV and film projects including CAUGHT and REPUBLIC OF DOYLE (both starring Greg's little brother Allan Hawco).

Here on we've loved covering Greg over the years and he's been ever so kind to share his great work with us.  We've watched him perform in Toronto at the Company Theatre Concert in 2014 (watch) and at their Shindig in 2015.  He sent us a POSTcard from Berlin when he was there conducting with the Berlin Sinfonietta.  We even have his Cool People Profile in which he shares his favourite things about life in Newfoundland.  Yes - we've loved celebrating his tremendous talents and we're thrilled he's taken a minute to celebrate this occasion with us.

Greg not only continues his busy run with COME FROM AWAY which, "DUE TO PHENOMENAL DEMAND will move to Toronto's Elgin Theatre in February of 2019" (details here), but he's always on the go with his cool new project THE URBAN ORCHESTRA through which audiences can enjoy orchestral music like never before.  You can read more about that project here.

We sure are grateful to ya Mr.H.  Thanks ever so much for taking the time to send in your GR'8 #SABS8 salute and for always making time for SEA AND BE SCENE! You're the bees knees you are! xosabs
