Posted: July 22, 2017

He promised he was parked!!!

So excited to get this #SABS7 Birthday Salute from Cape Breton's own award winning, actor, writer and director - Daniel MacIvor.

Enter his name and you'll be eligible to WIN a copy of  "Escape Hatch" by Gerhard P. Bassler (click on the pic to read more about it) as our daily prize for July 22nd, 2017 and qualify for our HEAVENLY STAY grand prize draw.

Stationary for the picture, but only briefly! Soon Daniel will be heading to South Shore Nova Scotia for a limited run of his acclaimed solo show "Who Killed Spalding Gray" at the Chester Playhouse.  That goes from July 26 - 29 (for more on that show click here).

Daniel wrote the play which will be released in book form this November.  "Who Killed Spalding Gray" is the latest in a long line of highly regarded creations from the brilliant Mr.MacIvor.  "See Bob Run", "Never Swim Alone", "In On It", "A Beautiful View", "His Greatness" are among his many works.  Daniel received the Governor General's Literary Award for Drama for his collection of plays "I Still Love You" and he was awarded the prestigious Siminovitch Prize. He's also received an Obie Award and a GLAAD Award.  Amazing to be sure of it.

His award winning goes beyond the stage though - having scored the Chlotrudis Award for his body of work in 2006, and most recently the 2017 Canadian Screen Award for best Original Screenplay for his heartfelt film WEIRDOS.

SEA AND BE SCENE TV was lucky enough to be invited to the Nova Scotia set back in October of 2015 - you can watch that special here.

Of course we've always enjoyed Mr.MacIvor's performances on screen too!  You can check out his IMDb page for the complete list - which currently sits at an amazing 45 roles and includes a multi-season run as Jake's crooked boss - Inspector Tarrant on REPUBLIC OF DOYLE.

And as if all of that wasn't enough Daniel's currently developing a new play for Toronto's Tarragon Theatre called "New Magic Valley Fun Town" as well as working on the libretto for Rufus Wainwright's "Hadrian", commissioned by the Canadian Opera Company. WOW!!!

Let's face it - the man is a marvel! A very busy marvel!

Daniel MacIvor - thank you so much for taking the time to join us for our celebration and for this wonderful #SABS7 Birthday Salute.  You're the very finest kind! SABS
