THOM SWIFT “The Legend of Roy Black”

A Sweet Release...

Multi award-winning, New Brunswick born and Nova Scotia-based singer-songwriter and guitarist, Thom Swift released his fourth solo recording, The Legend of Roy Black on June 3, 2016 following which he toured the Maritimes to support it.

click-my-nose-2016Part of that tour took him to Truro, Nova Scotia - the host city for the 2016 Music Nova Scotia Awards where Thom was twice nominated - including Solo Recording of the Year & Americana Recording of the Year for his fantastic new album, The Legend of Roy Black.

The 10-song folk-roots recording was produced and recorded by Swift and Charles Austin at Echo Chamber Studio in Halifax, NS and mixed and mastered by Dave Gunning at Wee House of Music in Pictou, NS.

All songs were written by Swift, including two co-writes: “Well Worn Road” and “Broken Glass” with award-winning musician, Keith Mullins and excluding a cover of the late Jim Dorie’s song titled, “I Don’t Know” and a cover of the over 60 year-old classic titled “A Satisfied Mind”, written by J.H. Hayes & Jack Rhodes.

The album features Swift on acoustic and resonator guitars and vocals, Tom Easley on stand up bass, Asa Brosius on pedal steel, and J.P. Cormier on mandolin, violins and banjo. Dave Gunning performs high-strung guitar on lead track “Well Worn Road”.

With over twenty-five years experience recording and performing across Canada, the United States and Europe, Swift shoots straight to the point with his writing. His voice and music is unique and powerful.

He has toured and shared the stage with noted performers such as Rosanne Cash, John Hiatt, Bill Frisell, John Mayall, and Pinetop Perkins and he is co-founder of award-winning folk-blues-jazz group, Hot Toddy Trio, who have released nine albums and performed at prestigious music festivals worldwide.

You can catch Thom in the New Year when he performs in his home province...
