Janice Peters Gibson – No Place Like Home in Prince Edward Island
Occupation: Communications Manager, The Company Theatre
Place of Birth: Souris, PEI
Currently Resides: Toronto, ON
Where’s your favourite place in Prince Edward Island to grab a coffee?
The Evergreen Café & Wellness Studio in Souris
Where’s your favourite place in Prince Edward Island to grab a pint?
The Gahan House for a delicious handcrafted island ale.
Where’s your favourite place to shop in Prince Edward Island?
I love to wander through all of the small shops in the historic part of Charlottetown. They are filled with lots of beautiful, locally made treasures!
What's the one meal you miss the most when you're away?
I really miss fresh seafood. Whether that be white fish from a local fisherman with a side of new potatoes and yellow beans from the garden or freshly cooked lobster with nothing but butter. We don’t have it very often, but my Mom’s Scallop Bubbly Bake is also a favourite treat!
Where in Prince Edward Island would we stand to see your favourite view?
On the back deck of my parent’s house, where you can see the mouth of the sparkling Souris River leading out to the vast, blue ocean.
Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Prince Edward Island:
1. Watch The Young Company’s free outdoor show at noon at The Confederation Centre of The Arts
2. Have a waffle cone of COWS ice cream at Peake’s Quay
3. Spend a day at the beach – ask a local for the best ones
What makes Prince Edward Island such a special place on earth for you?
It is where I go to slow down and re-focus. From the moment my feet touch the red soil my soul exhales and I begin to heal. With so many friendly faces and wide open spaces to run, I look forward to sharing it with my daughter every summer when we return home to visit.

Sounds positively heavenly! I've managed to do 3/3 of your suggestions Janice but never did get to try an ale at your fave place.
