Amy Smith – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Currently Resides:  Halifax, NS

Occupation:  Co-host CBC News Nova Scotia along side Tom Murphy and host of CBC News Maritimes at 11

Where’s your favourite place in  Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

Steve O Renos has my favourite coffee. I usually pick one up on a Saturday morning at the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market.

Where’s your favourite place in  Nova Scotia to grab a glass of wine?

Obladee Wine Bar on Barrington (Halifax) is a fun place to enjoy a glass of wine and people watch.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

I love to cook so my husband and I make the rounds on the weekends, picking up ingredients at the Seaport Market, Pete's Frootique and if we are looking for a special treat, Ratinaud on Gottingen sells great Shandaph oysters from Pictou County.

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

I'm always amazed by the view at the North West Arm at the Armdale Roundabout. It doesn't matter if it's a rainy afternoon or a sunny morning - it's always quite spectacular.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit  Nova Scotia:

1. Swim in the Bras d'Or lakes (It's supposed to be cold!)

2.  Get an ice cream cone and walk along the Halifax waterfront on a hot summer day

3. Take a winery tour down in the Annapolis Valley.

What makes Nova Scotia a special place?

It's pretty hard to beat living so close to the ocean!
