19th Annual Ha!ifax ComedyFest

(Halifax, NS) – The 19th annual Ha!ifax ComedyFest is pleased to unveil the performer schedule for event, April 23- 26 and announce that Gemini award-winning, international touring comic, Jeremy Hotz and Canadian comedy legend, Mike MacDonald have been added to the already stellar line up.
Gemini award-winning, international touring comic, Jeremy Hotz One of the most popular and unique stand-up comics working today, the “Master of Misery”, Hotz grabs audiences with his completely original and confused, yet very astute, observational comedy. He was the recipient of a Gemini Award for “Best Performance in a Comedy Show or Series” for his work in the celebrated series, “The Newsroom” on CBC and PBS in America and was a staff writer and performer on “The Jon Stewart Show”.
Hotz headlines the Gala of Laughs on Friday, April 25 at the Spatz Theatre. The show will be hosted by Mark Critch and also features, Greg Morton, Cathy Jones, Leland Klassen, Nathan Macintosh, Kelly Taylor, Ryan Belleville, Chuck Byrn and Tim Nutt. Show time is 7:30 p.m.
Canadian comedy legend, Mike MacDonald A Canadian comedic icon, MacDonald has appeared on numerous TV shows including “Late Night with David Letterman”, “The Arsenio Hall Show” and “Just For Laughs”. He has also written and starred in three CBC/Showtime specials of his own, including “Mike MacDonald”, “On Target”, “My House! My Rules”, and “Happy As I Can Be.”
MacDonald will perform at the Spatz Theatre’s Gala of Laughs Finale on Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. The night will be hosted by Mark Critch and will also feature Dave Hemstad, Mike Delamont, Ophira Eisenberg, Angelo Tsarouchas, Andrew Evans, Pete Zedlacher and Derek Edwards.
Ryan Belleville MacDonald will also perform as part of the Opening Gala at Casino Nova Scotia’s Schooner Room, on Wednesday, April 23. This show will be hosted by Ryan Belleville and will feature Darryl Orr, Kyle Radke, Mike Delamont, Ian Black, Nile Seguin, Rob Pue, DeAnne Smith and Gilson Lubin. The show time is 7:30 p.m.
The always-outstanding All Star Show on Thursday, April 24, at Casino Nova Scotia’s Schooner Room, will be hosted by Dave Hemstad and will feature comics, Greg Morton, Leland Klassen, Chuck Byrn, Angelo Tsarouchas, Pete Zedlacher, Ophira Eisenberg, Tim Nutt and Derek Edwards. The show time is 7:30 p.m.
Saint Lucian comedian, Gilson Lubin Saint Lucian comedian, Gilson Lubin will host LMAO, presented by Admiral Insurance, on Friday, April 25 at the Seahorse Tavern and will feature, Doug Mutai, Kyle Radke, DeAnne Smith, Ian Black and Keith Pedro. The show starts at 8 p.m.
The Alderney Landing Show, hosted by Mike Delamont will feature DeAnne Smith and Emo Philips on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Pete Zedlacher, will host the Pub Comedy double feature on Saturday, April 26 at the Lower Deck, Historic Properties. Darryl Orr, Doug Mutai, Jane Stanton and Nile Seguin will perform at 1 p.m. and Nathan Macintosh, Keith Pedro, Kelly Taylor, Andrew Evans and Stephanie Tolev will perform at 3 p.m.

The line-up for the Not Made For TV shows at Yuk Yuks Comedy Club at the Westin Nova Scotia Hotel is as follows:

Thursday, April 24 at 8 p.m. – Homegrown Show featuring local talent.
Thursday, April 24 at 10 p.m. - Darryl Orr, Rob Pue and Ryan Belleville.
Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m. – Keith Pedro, Doug Mutai and Dave Hemstad.
Friday, April 25 at 10 p.m. - Jane Stanton, Kyle Radke and Mike MacDonald.
Saturday, April 26 at 8 p.m. - Stephanie Tolev, Ian Black and Chuck Byrn.
Saturday, April 26 at 10 p.m. - Nile Seguin, Leland Klassen and Gilson Lubin.

The fundraising event, Ha!Ha!'s For Homebridge will take place at the Lake Banook Canoe Club on Wednesday, April 23 at 8 p.m. and will feature the talents of Ophira Eisenberg, Chuck Byrn and Angelo Tsarouchas.

The Ha!ifax ComedyFest is a joint venture between Premiere Entertainment Group (PEG), Pilot Light Productions, CBC and the Halifax Comedy Festival Society. The event competes with the best comedy festivals in the world and is one of three comedy festivals broadcast nationally during prime time hours on CBC Television. The television series has garnered ten Gemini Award nominations since 2001, including three in 2011.
