That's why we've got a very special edition of the Sea and be Scene Friday Favourite Four. The #FFF is your weekly chance to discover the four favourites of your favourite East Coast folks. The four questions will always stay the same... only the folks will change.. And for this week…
Our spotlight is pointed at an amazing actress who spends the spring & summer seasons dealing with all kinds of trouble in Nova Scotia (more on that in a bit).
First - a smidge of background - she was born in Renton, Washington and yes she's a huge Seahawks fan!
She received her undergraduate degree in theatrical arts from Vanguard University in Orange County, CA and went on to study Shakespeare in Oxford, England at the British American Drama Academy. She continued her studies at UCLA where she received her MFA in acting. While at UCLA, she was an active participant in Arts Bridge America, a program which fights to keep arts education in public schools, and also taught at the UCLA summer Youth Performance Conservatory. She has participated in master classes with Tim Robbins, Henry Goodman, Helen Hunt, and Annette Bening. While there, her theatrical roles include Sylvia in I Gelosi, Dorine in Tartuffe, and Beth in Wounded with the Los Angeles Theater Ensemble.
Her list of acting credits for television includes regular roles on some serious hits - everything from Brothers & Sisters to Jerrico to her work as Dr.Tracy Martin on ER. She's also guest-starred on Private Practice, Two and a Half Men and Without a Trace to name just a few - and earlier this month she starred in the romantic and touching movie The Thanksgiving House, which is currently running on the Hallmark channel (click on the picture for broadcast times).
Now, it's fair to say she has reached 'cult status' with her 'virtual' role of Ellen Fisher for the Uncharted series of video games (click the picture at the bottom of this post for a behind the scenes look at Uncharted 3) - BUT it's her role as Special Agent Audrey Parker (and Sarah and Lexie) that has brought her to the South Shore of Nova Scotia for the past for seasons and for that we will always be grateful.
HAVEN, based on Stephen King's "The Colarado Kid" is as much about one woman's journey to self-discovery as it is about a seemingly normal seaside village that actually turns out to be a longtime refuge for the troubled (aka people that are affected by a range of supernatural afflictions) - CRAZY right?! But, oh so good and fans will tell you... it's thrilling and dramatic and romantic and funny to boot. Her starring role in the hit Syfy/Showcase original has as earned her a Canadian Screen Award Nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series and garnered her countless fans around the world.
She is the very definition of beautiful - as lovely on the outside as she is on the inside. As a resident of the HAVEN 'hood (aka Chester) I can tell you - it's wonderful to have her in our seaside village... and it's spectacular to have her back on our TV's for a 4th fantastic season of HAVEN (the Canadian premiere of which airs tonight on Showcase at 9pm EST/ 10 pm Atlantic / 10pm in Newfoundland)
She is of course... the incredible EMILY ROSE.
