Isabelle Beaupre – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Actress

Place of Birth: Montréal, QC

Currently Resides: Living in Montreal, but summers are spent in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

I love getting my caffeine fix from Two If By Sea, no matter how out of the way it is for me.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

The atmosphere at The Bitter End makes for a great backdrop to an evening with friends. Bonus points for the sugary and cleverly named drinks!

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

The vintage boutiques off Spring Garden road always have little hidden treasures to check out. A lot of the goodies they have are special because they’re often made by local artists, like the jewellery. I like going to these boutiques because I can justify ‘shopping’ as ‘supporting local talent’. Everybody wins.

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

On top of the wave sculpture on the Halifax waterfront. Like every child who grew up in Halifax, I loved nothing more than climbing to the top of the wave, which at the time, felt like the top of the world. Even though everyone knows they’re not supposed to be climbing all over this piece of art, everyone has surely done it at some point. I’ve done it countless times just to enjoy the view of the Halifax Harbour, the boardwalk full of people, a glimpse of bustling streets above. It’s a great little spot in the middle of everything to just take a moment to marvel at the city.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Have breakfast at the Halifax Seaport Market on Saturday morning, doesn’t get any fresher than this.

2. Hike Cape Split, bring a camera!

3. Take a drive out to the coast and breathe in the ocean air.

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

It’s where all my memories from my childhood take place. It’s where I went to high school, where I made my closest friends, where I grew up. It’s also where I first started acting. I know how extraordinarily lucky I am to have had my start in such welcoming and accommodating community filled with good-hearted people to support me.

SABS Note of Noteworthiness

Isabelle Beaupre –top AQUATEAM bottom with Liam Cyr on lot for MrDIsabelle mentioned her first acting gig being here in Nova Scotia – well, you might say she dived into that career...and into the Atlantic Ocean. Back in 2009 Isabelle joined the AQUATEAM for Discover Kids – diving on shipwrecks, swimming with dolphins and sharks – cool!

Of course Isabelle is best known these days as the girl we wish we all sat next to in High School - Maya Garland on the CBC hit comedy series Mr.D.

We've got a great interview with Isabelle and his cast mates coming up on the next episode of SABStv - click here to see that.
