Where’s your favorite place in Newfoundland and Labrador to grab a coffee?

That would have to be Coffee Matters on Military Road. Last time I was home to shoot an episode of REPUBLIC OF DOYLE I would stop into Coffee Matters every morning before going to set.  Great breakfast menu.

Where’s your favorite place in Newfoundland and Labrador to grab a pint?

The Duke is a favorite of the REPUBLIC OF DOYLE cast and crew.  When each episode is wrapped on Thursday nights everyone meets at The Duke on Duckworth Street to have a drink and chill out.   Warm atmosphere, friendly people.

Where’s your favorite place in Newfoundland and Labrador to shop?

I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl – Living Planet on Water Street sells the funniest and most creative t-shirts made by local Newfoundland artists.

What’s the one meal you miss the most when you’re away?

Fish cakes. I loves fish cakes!! Luckily, my Aunt Charlotte, who lives in Toronto and is an amazing cook, will fry me up some cod fish cakes when I get real home sick – if I’m good.

Where in Newfoundland and Labrador would we stand to see your favorite view?

In Collinet, St. Mary’s Bay (my mother’s hometown) there’s a provincial park called The Cateracts that has a natural cascade.  It is totally stunning. Every step you take deserves a picture.

Name 3 things we’ve got to do when we visit Newfoundland and Labrador:

1. Stop and talk to everyone you meet - Newfoundlanders are like no other kind you have ever met before.

2. Keep looking up – the sky is an ever-changing palette of colours

3. Breath deeply – the fresh air, the smell of the Atlantic ocean is something you’ll miss the second you leave.

What makes Newfoundland and Labrador such a special place on earth for you?

The clean air, the natural beauty, the friendliness of the people – Newfoundland and Labrador is like no other place in world.  Its culture is so unique; the people are so real and down to earth. You have to experience it to know what I mean. Everyone should visit.  I love Newfoundland - no matter where you are on the island you feel like you’re home.
