Lisa Rose Snow – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Actor/Writer/Director

Place of Birth: Halifax, NS

Currently Resides: Toronto, ON

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

I love to grab coffee from Two If By Sea, though really it’s just an excuse to eat their delicious butter croissants. I also am a huge fan of the Soy Chai Lattes from Humani-T and Uncommon Grounds.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

I’m more of a wine drinker than a pint drinker and love the atmosphere at Obladee. If I’m feeling particularly fancy I may venture down to Noble for a delicious cocktail, or just lurk around the Economy Shoe Shop, sipping on g & t’s.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

I’m a sucker for Biscuit General Store. They have the best clothes and the owner/staff are friendly and super knowledgeable. There are a lot of great second hand stores and antique shops throughout the province, so I am always down for a random road trip to find the next treasure.

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

I love looking at the Cabot Trail from Chetticamp in Cape Breton. Something magic about the way the road climbs, towering over the ocean.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Get yourself in a car and take a trip down to the Valley. Stop in at Just Us for a coffee, buy some wine from the vineyards, get some jelly from the Tangled Garden, pop into a farmers' market then have yourself a little picnic.

2. There is a lot of great theatre that happens in our province. Check out Theatre Nova Scotia for the shows happening in and around town, buy a ticket and support the arts!

3. Figure out a way to enjoy the water- take a swim at Hubbard’s Beach, go sea kayaking in Prospect Bay, or go Tidal Bore rafting. All else fails, drive down the Old Herring Cove Road and check out the waves at the look off.

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

Nova Scotia has the perfect blend of what I need to be happy - nature, city, people, food. It’s not too big, and it’s not too small. You can find what you need in the city, or escape it all in the country. I’ve travelled to a lot of great places, but couldn’t be more than happy to call Nova Scotia my home.
