We always love to hear stories of folks giving of their time and talents to help others - so when word reached us of a truly worthwhile weekend of charity supported by some great Atlantic Canadians we wanted to share it with you.

Prince Edward Island's lovely and talented Chastity Fizzard is joining her fiancé, PEI's Official Food Ambassador Chef Michael Smith in London, Ontario for Charity Gala Ball to benefit Bethanys Hope Foundation.

Chef Micheal will be hosting a meet & greet this evening and then on Saturday, April 27 at the gala event - Chef Michael's Kitchen Party - the couple will be joined by musician Mark Haines for an evening of excellent entertainment and without doubt - fabulous food.

With the hopes of getting the full scoop on their efforts and everything else wonderful in their world - we caught up to Chastity who answered our questions from about 40,000 feet in the air en route to Ontario.  What follows is our Q&A as they say with the fantastic Chastity Fizzard.

SABS: First of all - we were so pleased to announce the birth of your baby girl last June.... and didn't the time go by in a blink?! How is baby Camille these days?
Introducing-Camille-Reese-SmithChastity Fizzard:
Yes, Camille was born June 25 and so much has happened since then. Her first word was "Dadda" (which I was completely OK with ha!) and now she says "mamma", "nana" and something that sounds like "What's da". She's crawling, standing and it seems that she has a love for music because she really likes pounding on my guitar! I've loved being at home with my girls and spending as much time with them as I can which is why I've been away from the scene lately. These moments you never get back and I don't want to miss anything.

SABS: I'm guessing there's never a dull moment in your busy home AND now you're involved in another wonderful event this weekend...
Chastity Fizzard:
Yes, my most recent project has been writing a theme song for the Bethanys Hope foundation based out of London, Ontario. It is a foundation in support of finding the cure of Muscular Leukodystropy, a horrible disease that affects over a hundred thousand children per year.

Michael has been quite closely affiliated with it for a number of years and once I met the founders, Dave and Lindey McIntyre they asked that I write a song of inspiration and hope... hence the song's title, “One More Song For Hope”. This is the first song I've written on piano since I was eleven years old so it was quite an accomplishment. It is also the first song I've written that has meant as much to someone else as it has to me. I feel truly blessed because of this.

As I'm answering this - I'm sitting on a plane heading to London to perform at the Bethanys Hope gala with Michael's crew and Mark Haines, who has organized the musical component and will perform throughout the evening as well as with playing along with me. Mark and I recorded “One More Song For Hope” at his studio which will be available soon on iTunes. At the event, we will be performing in front of an audience of five hundred people. The song has a choir component so naturally we will have a 20 piece choir in the back. I consider this the biggest and most important  performance of my career! No one aside from Dave, Lindey, the choir and musicians have heard this song. I hope that it inspires people to keep supporting Bethanys Hope... as their story has inspired me. For every song I sell, I will donate a percentage to the foundation. I will help them in any way I can.

SABS: With everything else on the go - it's crazy to ask but can we expect another album from you before too long?
Chastity Fizzard:
Ha - yes life is unbelievably busy, filled with children,  a wonderful partner, getting back to the gym and planning our wedding. Having written and recorded “One More Song For Hope”, I am completely inspired to get back into the studio! I believe I will do it a little differently however. I am set to make a video for this song and will release it on YouTube in the near future.

Chastity-FizzardI plan on releasing a song every month after that, all of which will be available on iTunes to download. The music I've written these days is very different than the style of my last album. That album was one about heartbreak really, and these days I have nothing to complain about. My new songs are about gratitude and reflection. Being a mother has really taught me to live in the moment and I think that's helped my songwriting. Everyone finds their inspiration in different places and things. I have found it in stability and 'present moment' living.

SABS: I know you're getting set for the big day – I've got no doubt it will be amazing...any special scoop you can share?
Chastity Fizzard:
The big day is set for August 17th and there is still so much to do! We are having a themed wedding. Think 1920's. It's going to be so much fun!! My dress is period style and the bridesmaids will wear flapper dresses. Michael and the groomsmen will all wear morning suits and top hats. I can't wait to see Michael in a tux. He never wears suits. He will look stunning!! He agreed that since I will wear a wedding dress only once - then that would be a good enough reason for him to wear a tux just once! Ha love it!
Chastity-Fizzard with fiancé Chef Michael-SmithWe are getting married in Fortune close to our house and as you can well imagine, there will be so much food! The nice thing about having kids first is that they can all be a part of the ceremony. Ariella our four year old and Camille, who will be one by then, will be the flower girls and Gabe, my eleven year old step-son will be the ring bearer. I'm so looking forward to seeing them all dressed up! So sweet! What a party it will be! There are still lots of details to work out, but I don't wanna give away too much because we want to surprise our guests!
