POND Hockey Season In New Brunswick

You’ve probably heard about the World Pond Hockey Championship in Plaster Rock, NB.  Since its beginning in 2002 the tournament has grown to welcome around 8000 people to its 4 days of fun.

Players from all over North America, media types too and of course the hockey fans – who journey to this small New Brunswick village, embrace the cold and cheer on the now competing 40 teams.

It truly is something to watch and will run this year from February 9 – 12, 2012.

And while it may be smaller and newer too - there's another such tournament where folks rally on the outdoor rinks with equal spirit.

Miramchi Rotary Pond HockeyStarted back in 2005  to promote the city of Miramichi and to raise funds for the Rotary Club and all the charity work they do – The 8th Annual Miramichi Rotary Pond Hockey tournament will take place this year from February 3 – 5, 2012 at French Fort Cove.

Indeed its back to back weekends with row upon row of outdoor rinks complete with February fun for the whole family. From the thrill of festive  fireworks to every time the puck drops – it adds up to a whole lot of  good times for hockey lovers.
