Occupation: Songwriter/Musician/Nurse/Waitress

Place of Birth: New Waterford, Cape Breton, NS

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

The Armview if I want to sit and enjoy or Steve-o-Reno’s if I’m in driving.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

Again, the Armview (I spend a lot of time there) or Tom’s Little Havana.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

Biscuit General Store, Sweet Pea or the second hand shops along Queen St. in Halifax. There is also an amazing new shoe store on Charlotte St. in Sydney called Unique European Style Footwear - I love it.

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

On the deck of my parent’s cottage on Mira Bay in Cape Breton or at Duncan’s Cove outside of Halifax. You can spot whales out there from time to time. Really, I’m just pretty happy anywhere I can see the ocean.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Check out some live music. You’ll always be able to find something good.

2. Drive around the Cabot Trail. Summer and fall are incredible.

3. Swim in the ocean. It’s not warm, but it still always makes you feel like a million bucks.

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

I live in a city that has everything I want a city to have (great restaurants, amazing music scene, lots of culture) but yet I can get on my bike and in 10 minutes I’m at beautiful lake where I can swim or hike. Or I can drive 30 minutes and see some of the most amazing scenery you will find anywhere (I love the South Shore). And I’m close enough to my family in Cape Breton that I can get home whenever I want. Every time I travel somewhere else it always reaffirms that I live exactly where I want to live.
