Syfy has confirmed a December 6th airdate for the HAVEN Holiday Special

Check out the sneak peek above.

Updated: August 16th, 2011

While we've promised to keep the "action" a mystery 'til it airs this December - we can show you shots of the HAVEN team getting ready for "Silent Night".

The Christmas show has a few spots in Chester, Nova Scotia 'transformed' for the festive episode...

The HAVEN Herald interior scenes were shot yesterday (08/15/11) - you can see the strings of lights Dave & Vince used and what style - Martha Stewart would be proud of you fellas!

HAVEN Christmas 2

Today they'll be shooting outside, in front of the newspaper offices and HAVEN Joe's Bakery (aka Able Engineering).

HAVEN Christmas 1They were at it early this morning - shooting one street over at the 'troubled' town's toy store HAVEN's Playground (aka Light My Fire - which in real life is a great spot for gifts and making your own candles...fyi)

Tomorrow (08/17/11) they'll be filming on Pleasant Street - using the historic Chester Playhouse in the role of HAVEN's Cinemateque...no doubt it's creepiest production to date...

And that's saying a lot considering they're celebrating 25 Years of Live Theatre this season!

HAVEN Christmas 3

As for the crazy weather we've been having - with clouds and sprinkles this morning - now glorious sunshine this afternoon - the folks in 'post' will have their work cut out to make it look Christmassy...but no doubt they'll do it up great!

Way back in March we got word from the good folks at Syfy that they would once again be hosting their “Countdown to Christmas Week”. A week-long celebration airing this December, featuring holiday themed episodes of shows like Warehouse 13, Ghost Hunters, Eureka, and our favourite HAVEN.

The merriment has indeed begun – Thursday, August 11/11 marked the first day of shooting “Silent Night” – a stand-alone episode of HAVEN that will air in different time slots throughout that week (we’ll let you know when they’ve been announced)

Christmas DinnerAs for what's cookin' behind the scenes… yesterday I ran into show catering in our local super market buying enough turnip, carrots and potatoes to feed a small army -  turns out they are planning a big Christmas dinner for today to get the cast and crew in the spirit of the season. Turkey and fixin’s for 100 or so…talk about 'troubles'!

And as if Chester needed any more reason to feel festive – what with Race Week upon us – be on the look-out for Christmas decorations over the next couple of days, as the script calls for street scenes of a holiday inspired HAVEN.

The last day of production for Season 2 is set for next Friday, August 19, 2011, and while there’s no word on a third season – fans of the series are growing along with the show’s ratings so we are hopeful indeed. And we’ll for sure keep you posted. SABS

  1. It'd better be renewed! Show is getting better every episode!

  2. I wondered if there would be a Christmas special. But how can you make it Christmassy filming in the summer?

    Comment by Stephen Hatt — August 15, 2011 @ 8:43 am

  3. I sure hope this series is renewed for many seasons. We'll have to take it one at a time though. Agree totally with Lourdes.

  4. Hey Stephen - It's amazing what the HAVEN team can do when it comes to 'dressing the set' - exterior scenes should be a combo of real and post production magic. Can't wait for the fun! sb

  5. I wonder why they didn't shoot this episode when they got there in April, when the weather really looked like Christmas!

  6. Hope season 3 will be exciting. The chemistry between Nathan and Audrey should unfold and the love/loving should be apparent. It'll be lovely to watch the two..Altho the chief said to Nathan not to fall in love with Audrey, I think Nathan should just follow his heart and perhaps the writers can write something interesting stories as the episodes unfolds.
So please make sure that Nathan and Audrey show their feelings more...it is sweet that they take care of each other...and Duke is nice too....love it....
This show has a fan in Malaysia..... 🙂
