Posted: August 26, 2011

The Box Office is open for this year’s Atlantic Film Festival and with over 180 movies featured it won’t be hard to fill your schedule during the 10 day run! In the days leading up to the big event we’ll be throwing the spotlight on some of the marvelous movies made right here in the Atlantic Provinces…

Mark-O'Brien directs "Kathy" We begin our series with a film made by one of our favourite NL fella’s Republic of Doyle star Mark O’Brien, and we feel that's appropriate since we were there for its beginning.

Back in February of this year we heard of his mission to make KATHY – an independent short about a young girl growing up in St. John’s. We posted a story and paid close attention to its production, so to hear now it has been selected for the AFF line up – well that’s pretty cool!

MARK O'Brien's tweetWhen we saw this tweet we caught up with Mark for his thoughts on the screening and he sent us this note…

"It's a huge honour to be a part of such a renowned and exciting festival. The cast and crew made this happen. I just tried to look cool in the director's chair."

No trying needed Mr. O’Brien – you’ve got it all goin’ on! SABS
