Angie Chase – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Artisan/Owner: Gothic Glass Studio, Sociologist & any job that pays

Place of Birth: Berwick, Nova Scotia

Currently Resides: Kentville, NS but would like to live in Wolfville again.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

After having lived away for past 15 years, I’m discovering new cafes. I had a coffee in the old Wolfville Theatre the other day… named after Al Whittle.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

Again, I am discovering new drinking establishments…although I did have a Keith’s at the Anvil since I’ve been home.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

I always preferred the small, unique and locally owned shops. I enjoy the local farmer’s markets and I used to shop at the Brewery Market in Halifax. In the past I’ve enjoyed shops in Halifax, Bridgewater and Mahone Bay.

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

My favourite place is Ridge Road, Wolfville or Grand Pre looking over to Blomidon. Nova Scotia is generally beautiful everywhere.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Walk in an apple orchard when the apples are ripe.

2. Drive along the South Shore to Risser’s Beach

3. When you’re invited in for home-cooking, say ‘Yes’.

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

This is very easy, yet emotionally difficult for me to answer. I lived on the West coast for past 15 years and missed my birth home/roots/culture on a spiritual and soulful level. The end of May, I bought my first vehicle (a van) and drove across Canada by myself. When I reached the Amherst Welcome Centre, I cried deeply with happiness…to be home…and thankful I survived the trip! As much as I miss my beautiful son, who stayed in Victoria, my heart is lighter and my soul is more at peace now that I am home.
