Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a coffee?

If it isn’t on my front deck, it would have to be Hava Java on Water Street, St. John’s

Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a pint?

Duke of Duckworth and not because it has been made famous by Republic of Doyle! It’s been our favourite pub for many years.  For one of the most interesting and eclectic pub experiences though I recommend the Quidi Vidi Inne of Olde. Linda, the proprietor runs one of St. John’s hidden gems.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Newfoundland & Labrador?

Usually Devon House on Duckworth Street. It’s the retail outlet for the Newfoundland and Labrador Craft Council. Beautiful art and craft from local artisans.

Where in Newfoundland & Labrador would we stand to see your favourite view?

That’s an easy one. Right behind my potato garden facing due east! A view across Quidi Vidi Gut at the rising sun is hard to match.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Newfoundland & Labrador:

1. Cook & eat some NL lobster or crab on a beach, any beach.

2. Hike the East Coast Trail, any leg.

3. Take in some local music. George Street, or The Ship Pub, or Erin’s. Any bar will do! Even better, if you can make the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival in Bannerman Park the weekend after The Royal St. John’s Regatta, do it.  One of the best folk festival experiences in North America.

What makes Newfoundland & Labrador such a special place on earth for you?

Family, friends, clean air, open space. The laid back attitude we have here while always moving forward.  It’s unique to this part of the world. And of course the humour that is everywhere.  If you don’t know how to laugh this isn’t the place for you, unless of course you want to learn!
