Matt and I first met in December 2006. We had a good friend from Halifax in common over the years, but had never heard of each other. But when I found out I was moving to Saint John my friend quickly suggested this guy named Matt should show me around!  We became good friends quickly, started dating about 8 months later and engaged a year and half after that. He's smart, funny, creative and the most amazing person I've ever met.

Matt is originally from Saint John, but had also lived in Halifax, my hometown.... so it made sense to get married there.

Bartolacci Seely party6Another reason we wanted to get married in Halifax was because it was very important to me to have my 95-year-old grandmother there. "Nonna" is the matriarch of our family. I adore her and knew she wouldn't be able to make the trek anywhere else.

Bartolacci Seely party8We had our rehearsal dinner overlooking the harbour at the Upper Deck on the Halifax Waterfront. It was a taste of the Maritimes for our out of town guests who enjoyed seafood and locally brewed beer!

We were married at St. Agnes Church in Halifax (my family's church.) and had pictures taken in 2 locations... Fleming park (the Dingle) and the Halifax Waterfront. Since Matt and I both grew up on the water, and he's into sailing, we wanted to have pictures that reflected our love of the water.
Bartolacci Seely partySo of course, our reception was at the Saint Mary's Boat Club. It was the perfect setting for us. Water and sailboats in the background, a huge patio and a great view of the sunset over the Nortwest Arm.

The decor was done by Karen Spurr of Grand Beginnings Decor in Halifax. She did a wonderful job making the venue look and feel the way we wanted it to. Everything was white and silver with purple touches. She also did all our floral arrangements and bouquets.  We decided to keep things a little more casual and have a buffet, so the Scott and his team from Certainly Cinnamon pulled together an awesome buffet including a roast beef carvery and roasted chicken.

Bartolacci Seely party9Our friends and family travelled from across the country to be with us. Our bridal party came from as far away as Pakistan!

It was a perfect day and a great way to start our lives as husband and wife. DBS

Dina & MattI'm a videographer for CTV News and Matt works for Irving Oil. We live in Milligeville in Saint John with our Boston Terrier Henry!
