SABS GREAT 8 Birthday Salute for July 25 Jana Stackhouse & Billy MacLellan

Posted: July 25, 2018

WOW!!!

How these two incredibly busy East Coast talents stood still long enough to have a picture taken is beyond me, but man - am I ever happy they did!

Today's GR'8 #SABS8 Birthday salute comes courtesy of New Brunswick born award winning filmmaker Jana Stackhouse and Cape Breton's own award winning actor Billy MacLellan.

Enter their names and you'll be eligible to WIN a copy of the brand new book "The Honey Farm" by Harriet Alida Lye as our daily prize for July 25th, 2018 and qualify for our GREAT STAY grand prize draw.

Now that I think about it "Incredibly busy" might not go far enough.

In fact Billy's got 2 forthcoming films to tell you about - he'll play Fern Flaman along side Kevin Pollack, Georgina Reilly and NL's Mark O'Brien in Adrianna Maggs' drama GOALIE, and he takes on the role of the Reverend along side Stanley Tucci in John Leonetti's horror movie THE SILENCE. You can also catch him in a guest role on THE KILLJOYS coming up in the next few weeks and for all you gamers out there - he plays Wendall Redler in Far Cry 5 DLC- Hours Of Darkness. AND if all that wasn't enough he just signed on for another project which is vaulted at the minute but I'll look forward to reporting on just as soon as I can (so cool!) Now if you don't think you can wait another minute to see Billy in action - you can catch him in Allan Hawco's series CAUGHT streaming on the CBC player here and in the Sherry White penned feature MAUDIE available now on iTunes here. Billy and I had a great chance to talk about his many amazing roles on SEA AND BE SCENE... And HEARD too so be sure to listen/download that here.

As for Ms.Stackhouse she's getting it done and then some...  the web series NOTE TO SELF she directs for CBC Comedy was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Web Program or Series - Fiction and was also renewed for a season 2 with episodes streaming now (watch here). Here film AWAY HOME (in which Mr.MacLellan stars) was selected for the Hollywood North Film Festival where it won best student film and Jana won Best Female Director. It's also screened at festivals in Montreal and Toronto and was recently selected to screen next month at the Regina International Film Festival. AND never one to let grass grow - you should know Jana is in the midst of developing another webseries and writing a feature film.

You'll be happy to note - they both made a smidge of time to get home this summer. Indeed the Toronto based couple have carved out some days to play on Canada's East coast - Jana dropped me a line from New Brunswick last night and as for Billy - well if you follow the man on social media you know he's back on his beloved island!

And I'm so very grateful they found time to join the party - they've both been such a lovely part of our SEA AND BE SCENE fabric here for the past 8 years, so it's only fitting they be a part of our celebration!

Jana Stackhouse and Billy MacLellan THANK YOU! For sharing your stories and for sending in this truly GR'8 #SABS8 Birthday Salute - you're the very knees of the bee! xo sabs
