Toronto Songwriting School Offers Scholarship Opportunity for Songwriting Workshop

St. John’s, NL – Toronto Songwriting School is offering a scholarship for a Newfoundland-based songwriter to attend workshops at their Songwriter Getaway in St. John’s, NL June 14-18, 2017.

These 5-days in St.John's will include one-on-one song feedback, and exclusive masterclasses with Alan Doyle and Bob Hallett.

The scholarship recipient will be invited to attend daily workshops and lunch will be provided each day. The Toronto Songwriting School workshops will include writing prompts, original song feedback, and presentations by some of the East Coast’s most sought-after musicians and songwriters.

Toronto Songwriting School was launched by Murray Foster in 2014. Best known for his work as the bass player for the band Great Big Sea, Foster is a songwriter, musician, and music producer. He collaborated on three songs on Fortunate Ones’ Juno-nominated album The Bliss, including his song “Lay Me Down” which spent two weeks at #1 on the CBC Radio 2 Top 20.

Songwriters Workshops in St.John's June 14-18, 2017“We are excited to be taking our Songwriting Getaway to St. John’s this year,” said Foster. “It’s one of the most beautiful and musical cities in North America.”

“The Songwriting Getaway Weekend with Murray Foster was an amazing experience,” said Sean Hunt, a five-time Songwriting Getaway attendee. “Murray’s insights are practical and intuitive, and I left with a renewed inspiration to build my tool-set and hone my craft.”

Scholarship recipients must be first-time attendees, currently residing in Newfoundland.

The deadline to apply is May 20, 2017.
