Theatrical Release for MAUDIE

MAUDIE, based on a true story, is an unlikely romance in which the reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires a fragile yet determined woman named Maudie (Sally Hawkins) to be his housekeeper.

Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. Unexpectedly, Everett finds himself falling in love. MAUDIE charts Everett’s efforts to protect himself from being hurt, Maudie’s deep and abiding love for this difficult man and her surprising rise to fame as a folk painter.

BAFTA winner Aisling Walsh - MAUDIE is a beautiful love story, based on the true lives of legendary Nova Scotia born folk artist Maud Lewis and her husband Everett.

MAUDIE was written by Newfoundland's own Sherry White who took home the Best Screenplay Award at the Atlantic Film Festival last September. The film also won the AFF Best Atlantic Feature Award in 2016.  It would go on to earn a total of 7 awards during it's festival run and now the charming film is set to hit theatres across Canada April 14.

MAUDIE will roll into theatres throughout America starting June 17, 2017.
