Well, if you've been following their social media streams like we have - you're already caught up in all the magic that is ANNE.
Ever since her first Instagram post about the project last summer, Executive Producer/Writer/Showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett @moirawalleybeckett has invited us to join in on the adventure. Thanks to the gracious glimpses from her and the show account too @anntheseries we've been treated to wonderful behind the scenes moments, plenty of playful times and the ever so special breathtaking vistas of our beloved Gentle Island.
And while all of that looking has been lovely - we can hardly wait to watch this brand new ANNE! Thank goodness we've only 2 more days to go.
This Sunday, March 19th, 2017 - CBC will premiere ANNE...
"...a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and numerous challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place in the world. The series centers on a young orphaned girl in the late 1890s who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an aging sister and brother. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform their lives and eventually the entire small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination. Charting new territory, Anne and the rest of the characters will experience adventures reflecting timeless and topical issues including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice."
Filmed on location in Prince Edward Island and Ontario, ANNE stars Amybeth McNulty (Morgan, Agatha Raisin, The Sparticle Mystery) as the iconic Anne Shirley and award-winning actors Geraldine James OBE (Sherlock Holmes, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and R.H. Thomson (Chloe, The Englishman’s Boy) as Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert.
Dalila Bela (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Once Upon a Time, Odd Squad), plays Anne's bosom friend Diana Barry, and as for Anne's classmate and rival, (and future one true love) Gilbert Blythe - that all-important role will be taken on by Lucas Jade Zumann (20th Century Women, Sense 8).
We'll be tuning in this Sunday - hope you will be too!!! SABS
The first season of ANNE will be broadcast in eight episodes on CBC in Canada beginning March 19th at 8pm/8:30pm in Newfoundland, and on Netflix everywhere else starting Friday, May 12, 2017
