Old Fashioned Christmas in Sherbrooke Village

There are so many Holiday events happening throughout our region and this year, SABS contributor Kelley Edwards travelled to Sherbrooke Village, Nova Scotia for their beautiful Old Fashioned Christmas celebration. We're grateful she's shared this photo essay with us - next best thing to being there! SABS

For many years I've wanted to get to the Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration at Sherbrooke Village and this year I was able to cross it off my Holiday Bucket List.

It's quite a lovely coming together of communities, as folk and families gather at the head of the village for the lighting of the huge Christmas tree.

Then the crowd walks - some with candles - to old part of town, where the buildings of the historic village are all lit up.

Store-front windows shine with displays of teddy bears and toys while men in top hats and waist coast stroll with ladies in long dresses.  It feels like a scene from a Dickens story

There were many events happening throughout the weekend, from a Victorian Tea, served by the "long dresses" to workshops teaching how to make bobbin lace or wreaths.

Community breakfast, catered dinner, musical entertainment, Kris Kringle Craft market and so much more kept many visitors busy as they strolled through the streets in the afternoon and into the evening.

Put the Old Fashioned Christmas on your Holiday Have-to-Do List - to enjoy with your family and friends - what a treat!

Then again, when it comes to list of places to explore in Nova Scotia - Sherbrooke Village is a must-see all year round! KE
