Alyssa Cross – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Student / Actress/ Figure Skate / Dancer

Place of Birth: Halifax, NS

Currently Resides: HRM, NS

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab something sweet?

Sugah Confectionery & Ice Cream Emporium on the Halifax Waterfront. Their paddled ice cream is to die for. Plus there are all kinds of other goodies to try out too.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a bite to eat?

Walkers in Windsor, NS. My Mom and dad grew up in this area and whenever we are down that way we always stop in to get the Chicken Burger Special. Plus we always know someone when we go into have a bite.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

Mic Mac Mall is probably my favorite place to shop in Nova Scotia, but mostly because of Cinnabon. The stores are great too.

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

That would have to be Peggy’s Cove. My family tries to go at least once a year to enjoy the view and take the time to just be. I shot a commercial for HSBC Bank in the UK there in the fall so this place will now forever hold a special place in my heart. So many memories of those four days on set.Alyssa Cross - HSBC commercial Family at Peggys Cove rz

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Visit Masstown Market – Their donuts are amazing, especially when they are still warm. And you have to get an ice cream no matter what time of day or season you go through. My nanny’s car knows automatically now that it has to stop there any time we drive by. (We travel a lot though there for skating and dance competitions)

2. Summerville Beach close to Liverpool. My great aunt took be a number of years ago. It’s the most amazing place ever and we now go every year as a special get together.

3. Spend time seeing the “less seen” locations in HRM. Recently we have discovered - York Redoubt, Africville park (fantastic views of the MacDonald Bridge) and the Inuksuk’s of Bedford Basin. Some other favorites are Hemlock Ravine Park and the Dingle. I am excited to find some new locations this summer.

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

The people! My family and friends are here.

I have been lucky to meet so many incredible people in the film community here in Nova Scotia. They all support me, Alyssa Cross Bedford Basinencourage me and inspire me to dream big. Being on set here in Nova Scotia is a special thing. It's one big family and I am really proud to be part of that family.
