We had the chance to sit down for a great chat with the NL born filmmaker in part 2 of  SEA AND BE SCENE TV's Atlantic Film Festival Special.  We also caught up to the film's producer Mary Sexton - who just happens to be Nik's mom.

HOW TO BE DEADLY movie posterHOW TO BE DEADLY follows Dumphy and his circle of friends on the eve of the biggest dirt-bike competition of the year - a hero’s Journey with a Newfoundland twist because on the East Coast you’re only as good as your last story.

Written by Ed Riche and Nik Sexton, and produced by Mary Sexton, HOW TO BE DEADLY is the follow-up to 2012’s short film of the same name, which was an Official Selection at both Cannes and the Toronto International Film Festival. HOW TO BE DEADLY stems from a viral transmedia project created by Nik Sexton and friends, where the character of Donnie Dumphy came alive through a series of music videos and live appearances.

Since 2007, his music video, Havin’ A Time and subsequent music videos have garnered nearly 5 million views on the YouTube channel motionshow, and over 32,000 likes on the Donnie Dumphy Facebook page. Once described by Short Cuts Canada programmer Magali Simard as “the Newfoundland Trailer Park Boys-slash-Fubar”, it’s safe to say, the bye’s just can’t get enough of Dumphy. Union Pictures is proud to be the Canadian distributor for HOW TO BE DEADLY.

Starring: Leon Parsons, Gina Squires, Dan Bochart, Susan Kent, Lisa Richards, Annie Hennessey, Robbie Carruthers, Micah Martin, Dom Girouard, Sean Dalton, Rick Mercer, Cathy Jones, Andy Jones, Mary Walsh, Greg Malone, Andrew Younghusband, Ashley Billard, Alan Doyle
