JAYNE EASTWOOD #FFF Friday Favourite Four

Posted: October 31 2014

It’s Friday and time for another installment of the Sea and be Scene Friday Favourite Four. The #FFF is your weekly chance to discover the four favourites of your favourite East Coast folks. The four questions will always stay the same... only the folks will change.

In the spotlight this week... a wonder woman.  From theatre to improv, TV to film this Toronto, Ontario raised actress has done it all.

going down the road

Beginning with her debut in the classic Canadian Film Award winning GOIN' DOWN THE ROAD (1970) alongside Doug McGrath and Paul Bradley to the Academy Award winning CHICAGO (2002) with Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones to her forthcoming NO STRANGER THAN LOVE with Alison Brie and Colin Hanks - her big screen credits are only rivaled by her wealth of television roles.  Everything from the King of Kensington to Little Mosque on the Prairie, to her countless voice roles in shows like The Busy World of Richard Scarry, Babar and the Adventures of Badou and Scaredy Squirrel.

She has, a most recent count, amassed over 200 on screen roles - with a roster so extensive - you'll need to check it out for yourself (here's the IMDb link).

JAYNE EASTWOOD Earle Grey Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 1999 Canadian Gemini AwardsShe's also an accomplished and award winning theatre actress. In fact it was during her time on the Royal Alexandra Theatre stage from 1972-73, while performing in the musical Godspell that she met up with a great lot of talent folks - cast members that forged a wonderfully creative bond and a life long friendship.  Among them Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Gilda Radner and Eugene Levy.  From there they founded the Second City Theatre Troupe spawning SCTV and the like.

Her body of work runs the gamut from heartbreaking drama to all out comedy - with over 40 years in the business she has earned all of her many accolades including the most coveted Earle Grey Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 1999 Canadian Gemini Awards.

Needless to say we were thrilled to have her join the cast of HAVEN back in Season 4, not to mention have her hang her hat in the HAVEN 'hood with the rest of the series team.  Her character - coroner Gloria Verrano - is the perfect compliment to the troubled town.  Her no-bones-about-it and acerbic nature adds to the show's much enjoyed dry comedy and we couldn't be happier to have her quick-witted comebacks continue into the now playing super-sized Season 5.

We're honoured to have her in the Friday Favourite Four Spotlight - ever so grateful to you for sharing Ms.E!!!
