Just last month we posted the promise of a new show for REPUBLIC OF DOYLE guest star Sara Canning and now we're set to deliver the full scoop - the Gander, NL native will co-star in GLOBAL TV's ensemble REMEDY.

Canning, who most notably played Jenna Sommers on the CW's award winning series THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, will graduate  from hit high school horror to a high stakes medical drama beginning Monday, February 24, 2014 9pm ET/PT

REMEDY "follows the Conner family, goes beyond the operating room and the ER to offer a distinctive ‘upstairs/downstairs’ perspective on the people who make the healing happen. Everyone who enters Bethune General Hospital will be taken care of, but not always by whom they might expect.

From creator and showrunner Greg Spottiswood (King), the series follows med school dropout Griffin Conner (Dillon Casey), son of Bethune General’s Acting Chief-of-Staff Dr. Allen Conner (Enrico Colantoni), and brother of Sandy (Sarah Allen), an ICU nurse, and Melissa (Sara Canning), a general surgeon. Having left med school in disgrace, Griffin spent the next two years on a beach in Thailand. But after an unexpected turn of events, he’s back at Bethune General as its newest porter. Working “downstairs” alongside a cast of colourful characters, Griffin gets a whole new perspective on a world he thought he knew."

SARA CANNING as general surgeon Dr. Melissa Conner in REMEDYSara Canning will play "general surgeon Dr. Melissa Conner  - from an early age Melissa wanted nothing more than to be a surgeon. She turned her back on distractions and muscled her way through med school until she accomplished her goal. She’s close to her dad, Dr. Allen Conner, and loves the fact that they’re both “Dr.Conner”. She’s had a fair share of boyfriends, but never been in love. She doesn’t have a domestic bone in her body.  She’s never understood what people mean when they say she’s too hard on herself. Who would want a less than perfect surgeon?"
