Sea and be Scene

Never a dull moment for NL's Shawn Doyle it seems. Fresh off his turn in the CBS crime series VEGAS – he was cast to play Marshall Hilliard in Lifetime's made for TV movie LIZZIE BORDEN, currently filming in Halifax, NS.  Then just yesterday it was announced that the Labrador City native will join the cast of The CW's forthcoming period drama REIGN, premiering this October.

The series... “Chronicles the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis, and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. It details the secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue.”

Doyle will play Mary's Uncle Claude – described as “charismatic, amusing and worldly” but ruthless and willing to do whatever it takes to maintain his position and power at court.

The series stars Adelaide Kane (TEEN WOLF) as Mary, Toby Regbo (ONE DAY) as Prince Francis and Megan Follows (ANNE OF GREEN GABLES) as Queen Catherine.

Shawn told us he's "excited to be working again with fellow ENDGAMEr Torrance Coombs and delighted to get in the ring with Megan Follows, who is a force."

We caught the first post-announcement twitter exchange between Coombs who played Sam Besht opposite Doyle as  Arkady Balagan in the Showcase original ENDGAME. Coombs plays Sebastian (aka Bash) in REIGN and no doubt this will the first of many tweets between the two co-stars – follow both for the all the fun @Shawndoyle and @torrancecoombs

REIGN is a CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television production, executive produced by Stephanie SenGupta (HAWAII FIVE-O), Laurie McCarthy (THE GHOST WHISPERER), Frank Siracusa (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) and Brad Silberling (MOONLIGHT MILE). The pilot was directed by Brad Silberling.

Reign will air on The CW  Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET with the series premiere slated for  October 17, 2013.
