More Artists Announced for NEW GLASGOW JUBILEE

A Sweet Release...

(New Glasgow, NS, Wednesday, July 3, 2013) – The New Glasgow Riverfront Jubilee today announced the winner of the ReverbNation spot and Late Night Stage acts for its August 2-4 event.

Earlier this year the Jubilee teamed up with international music hub ReverbNation to find the opening act for this year’s event. After receiving more than 830 submissions from around the world and more than 30 from Atlantic Canada, Halifax based alt-rock power duo, The Town Heroes will kick off the main stage festivities on Friday, August 2nd at 7pm.

The Town Heroes are known for catchy, lyrical, hard-hitting and anthemic songs that will definitely get the party started. Voted Best Band in 2012 and Best New Artist in 2011 in The Coast’s Best of Music poll, The Town Heroes have toured Finland, performed at The Reepherbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany, The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK, and have showcased their talent on the coveted “Enter The Tiki” stage for Canadian Music Week in Toronto, multiple Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week stages, the Rising Star Stage at the East Coast Music Awards and were selected as the Nova Scotia Regional winners for the National Radio Star Song Writing competition.

jubileeThe Jubilee invited a panel of independent music aficionados to adjudicate the shortlisted submissions, using criteria that included originality, draw, video performance, marketability, songwriting, arrangement, and social media following.

“We received a number of incredibly exciting submissions through ReverbNation, and after some tough deliberations, our panel selected The Town Heroes in a very close vote,” says Executive Director Carlton Munroe. “The Jubilee would like to thank all of the band submissions and wishes each of them the best of luck in the future.”

The Jubilee and its partner the Acro Lounge & Eatery have also announced the acts for the Jubilee Late Night Stage.

On Friday, August 2, the Acro Lounge & Eatery will host Blindside and The Town Heroes. Blindside is a Pictou County rock band featuring Dwane Kenney on drums, Brian McKay on bass and the dual guitar attack of Dave Gallant and Rick Swinamer. Blindside's eclectic sound and passion for music rings true with the songs they play from their favourite bands and in their original material. The band recently recorded a self-titled three-song demo at Highball Sound Productions in Antigonish and is planning  to release a full length CD in the near future.

On Saturday, August 3, The Fourth Well and Alert the Medic will take to the Late Night Stage. The Fourth Well is a collective of 6 young musicians hailing mainly from Antigonish County, Daniel Fougere (Drums), Dillan Tate (Bass), Ryan Levangie (Guitar), Josh Bennett (Mandolin), and Johnathan Bennett (Bodhran). All members developed their multi-instrumental chops at an early age as a means to get through the winters, and to celebrate the good times and natural beauty that is found here. The band’s influences include Mumford and Sons, Hey Rosetta, Great Big Sea, The Trews, and Kings of Leon. They blend the traditional sounds of the mandolin, fiddle, and bodrahan with the rock staples of drums, bass, and guitars, and experiment with anything they can get their hands on to create their music.
