The occasion marks the end of a celebrated international festival tour and the first time two Oscar-winning actors, Dukakis and Fricker, appear at a film screening in Halifax. A Q&A period with the duo is scheduled following the 7 p.m. screening on December 12.

CLOUDBURST follows an elderly lesbian couple from Maine who embark on a Thelma and Louise-style road trip to Nova Scotia to be legally married. Faced with aging, family drama and anti-same-sex marriage laws, the duo’s adventure to Canada is a last and valiant effort to stay together. Also starring Genie Award-winner Kristin Booth, Ryan Doucette, Michael McPhee, John Dunsworth and Mary-Colin Chisholm, the film explores important themes of life, death and love.

“It’s such an exciting occasion to have CLOUDBURST's commercial release in Halifax, where the film was written and produced,” says Fitzgerald. “And to have both Olympia and Brenda attend is a first for Halifax audiences. I’m very much looking forward to standing by as our local film-loving community engages these women about the film and their experience making it.”
