The only thing better than a great story book is having it read aloud by a great story teller and for certain it's hard to find someone better in that capacity than Andy Jones.

The NL born award-winning star of stage and screen is an award-winning writer as well and within his many wonderful works you will discover the character of Jack.

Just last Sunday I was introduced to this Jack for the first time and what a treat. The show was billed as Christmas Readings by Andy Jones. First the fantastic puppet show for "The Queen of Paradise's Garden", followed by the reading of the Christmas tale "Jack and the Manager" and then a reading from Jones' latest book in the series "Jack & Mary in the Land of Thieves" (watch trailer above). True entertainment.

It was such a lovely time. The audience was filled with families and folks of all ages - the youngest gathered on a carpet at the front listening intently and laughing out loud along with the much older kids, like me, who sat comfortably clutching their Rocket Room coffee... and just as the poster had promised we all "got in the Christmas spirit".

It was a night without computers or TV's, no CGI or Wii's... just we the fans of the Mr. Jones and his Jack - caught up in the great stories told by the finest kind of story teller. SABS

SABS Note of Noteworthiness

Andy Jones with Marylynn Bernard and Marthe BernardTwo of Andy's most favourite ladies were on hand for the event - Mary-Lynn Bernard was puppeteer for the show and daughter Marthe Bernard enjoyed the performance just as much as the rest of us.  I asked Marthe what it was like having such a gifted guy as a father and this was her reply...

"My brother and I loved getting our dad to tell us stories when we were getting tucked in to bed. He had about a million and would make some up on the spot. We just figured it was normal! It was amazing to have that growing up, and I hope there's stories in my house with my children some day." MB
