Amy Soloway – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Singer

Place of Birth: Halifax, NS

Currently Resides: Well, I have a permanent Halifax address but spend more time away from it than at it!

Where’s your favourite place in  Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

I love coffee, so I have many haunts, but I find the most special to be the Uncommon Grounds in the Public Gardens. I like to grab a cup of dark roast and have a gabby stroll with a pal. 🙂

Where’s your favourite place in  Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

I don't drink beer, so I'll read "glass of wine"  - The Fireside and also The Wooden Monkey. Oh - Stayner's Wharf is always fun too.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

So many places! Pete's Frootique, the waterfront market,  but my absolute favourite is The Sweet Spot in Elmsdale...the best handmade chocolate in the province!

Where in  Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

When I'm home in the fall, I go for my run in the mornings on the Bedford Highway and I look at the Basin...the air is frosty and the sun is just coming up...the water is starting to sparkle...I think that's my favourite.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit  Nova Scotia:
1. Go to the Market in Halifax on a Saturday morning and have a macaroon (or 3).
2. Go to the Hydrostone. I hadn't been there in years (shameful!) and recently went with a friend...such a beautiful part of Halifax.
3. Eat the chicken schwarma plate from Venus Pizza on Barrington. SO GOOD.

What makes  Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

So many things, but mostly it's where my family is and also some of the best friends a girl could have. Also, my cat lives here so I kinda' gotta' come back. 😉
