We're featuring an amazing lady who's both very first feature film and most recent movie project have brought her to the Atlantic Provinces.
This Toronto born actress was still a teenager when she travelled to Cape Breton Island to star in NEW WATERFORD GIRL.
Cast as Mooney Pottie along side Mary Walsh, Nicolas Campbell, Tara Spencer-Nairn and Andrew McCarthy – she would win the award for “Best Canadian First Feature Film” at the Toronto International Film Festival and NEW WATERFORD GIRL would score “Best Canadian Film” at the Atlantic Film Festival in that same year 1999.
Fast forward 12 years, through near 40 more roles in TV and movies to just this past summer – when she once again travelled to the east – to the rural set of THE GRAND SEDUCTION in beautiful Port Rexton, NL.
This time she would play Kathleen and star opposite Brendan Gleeson, Taylor Kitsch and a slew of great NL actors including Gordon Pinsent, Mark Critch and Mary Walsh to name but a few. The Don McKellar directed remake is set to hit theatres in 2013 - and we can't wait! (stay tuned for more details on that great film).
In the meantime you can find her playing opposite Jared Padalecki (Sam) in the CW's hit series SUPERNATURAL.
Her character Amelia is new to this 8th season of the show and brings a little love into Sam's way beyond 'interesting' life – and fans are all over the match up.
So it is with great pleasure that we present this special kindred spirits edition of the Friday Favourite Four - courtesy of the award winning and always awesome LIANE BALABAN.
Thank you so much for sharing with us Ms. B and by our calculations you still need to make a movie in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick to make your East Coast collection complete – we look forward to your next trip!!! SABS
