Award-winning Canadian songwriters Kim Wempe & Carmel Mikol Fall Duo Tour in Canada and USA November 2nd - 25th
Wempe & Mikol are no strangers to the road. Since their first cross-Canada tour together in 2009, they have logged some serious mileage in their solo careers. Each has released two studio albums and garnered critical and fan acclaim for their award-winning songwriting and unique voices.
This fall, Wempe & Mikol reunite to tour through intimate house concerts and renowned listening rooms from Nova Scotia to Ontario and into the USA. Wempe & Mikol offer up a high-energy collaborative show, mixing roots/blues rhythms with americana/folk songwriting.
Kim Wempe’s vocals are haunting and smoky, often compared to Janis Joplin and Adele. Winner of the Galaxie Rising Star Award at the 2010 East Coast Music Awards, Wempe has showcased at JUNOFest, the Vancouver Olympics, Canadian Music Week and festivals across the East Coast. She has shared the stage with Royal Wood, Jill Barber, Jenn Grant, James Keelaghan, David Myles, Matt Andersen, and Madison Violet. Her much anticipated new album is due out February 2013.
A triple nominee at the 2011 East Coast Music Awards, Carmel Mikol has built her life around crafting songs, collecting stories, and carving poetry out of the human experience. Mikol tours extensively across Canada and the US. She is the 2011 Grand Prize Winner in the Folk Category of the John Lennon Song Contest and the The Great American Song Contest A fan favourite at festivals in Atlantic Canada and the US, she’s shared stages with Canadian folk greats Garnet Rogers, Dave Gunning, David Francey, and Connie Kaldor.
