“I am an Islander” by PATRICK LEDWELL

The final month of our Great Summer Reads contest is upon us and we're kicking off August with an awesome selection that'll have you smiling for the rest of the season and beyond.

Comedian, writer and Prince Edward Island native Patrick Ledwell shares a perspective on East Coast living as only he can in the very funny
"I AM AN ISLANDER".  Here's how he describes the book...

“It’s the kind of book you can dip into anywhere and find yourself with a slightly different foothold. One story visits the hobby farm where I grew up, and another explores confusing new trends in baby names. But all told, the book is always planting its feet on a PEI look-off point, and taking a broader view at the lighter side of modern life.” Patrick Ledwell

Steve Patterson, host of The Debaters, and comedian Lorne Elliot both contributed endorsements for the book jacket. So did Richard Side, producer of The Debaters, who wrote: “If Stephen Leacock and Woody Allen had a baby, they would name it Patrick Ledwell.”

Pick it up and you'll see why it's on our list of  Great Summer Reads - Enjoy!!!

I AM AN ISLANDER by Patrick Ledwell About the book...

No man is a Prince Edward Island. That’s a good thing, because the tiny province is eroding a metre per year.

In his new collection of side-splitting essays, "I AM AN ISLANDER", Patrick Ledwell explores the hilarity of life viewed from the country’s crumbling Eastern edge.

Raised in a big family, the Island comedian looks back at his rural roots. "I AM AN ISLANDER" is a funny and heartfelt stockpile of standup, sketches, and rants, banked up to defend your good humour against everything that might erode it.
