Terri Lynn Kearsey – No Place Like Home in Newfoundland & Labrador

Occupation: Producer & Host of ATLANTIC JOURNAL

Place of Birth: Sin Jawn’s, NL

Currently Resides: Halifax, NS

Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a coffee?

Coffee is usually Tim’s so we can go for a drive all over town and gab. I am however partial to the Chili Hot Chocolate at Coffee Matters!

Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a pint?

O’Reilly’s Pub. Beer and live music is all my heart needs.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Newfoundland & Labrador?

I love walking Downtown and going into all the unique shops, couldn’t pick just one.

What’s the one dish you crave when you’re away from Newfoundland & Labrador?

Tomato avocado soup from Café Wedgewood. Everything Basho makes and muddles blueberry basil martini, delish. Oh And MooMoo’s Ice Cream… could this profile just be all about my favourite food places??

Where in Newfoundland & Labrador would we stand to see your favourite view?

Middle Cove beach, at the end of the beach on the left there is a great shelf of rock you can climb up to whale watch or read a book, I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy both at the same time on many occasions.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Newfoundland & Labrador:

1. Any East Coast trail. My preferences are Sugarloaf Path- Logy Bay to Quidi Vidi and La Manche in Tors Cove

2. Drive “up da shore” (the Southern Shore) and do the lighthouse picnic in Ferryland

3. Leave the city and drive to any the outport community, guaranteed there is a festival happening at every single one and you will be welcome to celebrate with them.

What makes Newfoundland & Labrador such a special place on earth for you?

There’s just a feeling you get when you drive off the ferry or walk off the plane, it brings an instant smile to your face, it’s like an inside secret but when you look around everyone else has the same look on their face. Wherever you go you’re bound to run into someone you know and if you don’t know a soul, within an hour you are made to feel right at home. You can drive 10 minutes in any direction and see the most amazing sights that most people will never see in their lifetime. Through all the struggles and changes people have never lost their spirit. It’s just the most genuine place on earth.
