Shakespeare By the Sea
Dates: July 1, 2011 to September 2, 2011
Point Pleasant Park, Halifax
Shakespeare by the Sea is a summer theatre company based out of Point Pleasant Park in Halifax. Each summer the company puts on two Shakespearean plays and one original family show usually based on a classical tale that has been reworked to appeal to today's audiences.
Performances are 7 PM Tuesday to Sunday and the matinee shows are 1 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
 Shakespeare by the Sea prides itself on making theatre, and more importantly, Shakespeare accessible to all audiences and has been doing so successfully for 18 seasons. The company performs outdoors in Point Pleasant Park, and in case of rain has limited indoor seating in the lower parking lot. We also provide pre-arranged transportation into the park for physically challenged persons who would otherwise not make it into the park due to its gravel paths.

Organic Farming: BIODIVERSITY - Broadfork Farm, River Hebert, Cumberland County
Dates: July 16 (rain date July 17)

Come one, come all! Join Reg Newell, Stewardship Coordinator (NS Dept.of Natural Resources) and Roxanne Beavers, ACORN's Organic Transition Specialist for this informative workshop on one of the main principles of organic farming: BIODIVERSITY. Learn about the numerous benefits of maintaining on-farm biodiversity and some practical ways we can increase biological habitat for creatures large and small! In turn, these 'beneficials' will help you grow the best quality organic food possible! This session will be hosted by Broadfork Farm, from 10am-3pm on Monday, July 16th (rain date: July 17th). Bring a dish for a lunch-time potluck! We will wrap up with a 1-hour work party at 2pm to build a 'Mini-Beast Mansion,' to increase biological diversity on the farm.
