2012 Halifax International Busker Festival
A SWEET RELEASE
(Halifax, NS) – Celebrating its 26th year, the 2012 Halifax International Busker Festival, the oldest and largest of its kind in Canada, will take place on Halifax’s Waterfront, August 2-12 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. daily.
“The Festival is excited to be joining forces with the Alexander Keith’s Natal Day Festival for the first time,” said Festival Producer Kim Hendrickson. By collaborating with Natal Day Festival, the Busker Festival and HRM will be able to generate one of the most exhilarating, action-packed long-weekends ever seen in Halifax. From the Waterfront, to the Halifax Commons to Dartmouth’s Sullivan’s Pond there will be something for people of all ages.”
The Busker Festival will start on Thursday, August 2 with all stages starting at 6 p.m. Shows will run daily from 12 noon to 9 p.m., with the last show at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 12.
Performers from Canada, US, Australia, Brazil, Japan and many more will perform a wide variety of family-friendly street theatre, including acrobatics, music, visual arts, fire displays and comedy on six different stages along the waterfront. Stage locations include, Historic Properties, Nathan Green, Queen's Wharf, Maritime Museum, Summit Plaza and Sackville Landing.
A new partnership with Halifax International Airport Authority will bring street theatre to Halifax Stanfield International Airport. From July 25 – 29, travellers will be treated to live entertainment by some of the top Buskers performing at this year’s Festival.
Artists performing at the Halifax International Busker Festival include last year’s People’s Choice winner, Victor Rubilar, football juggler (Sweden); B-Extreme, Breakdancers (USA), Funny Bones, comedy acrobatics (Japan and UK), Snap Boogie, dancer (USA), Jeff Bradley, illusionist (Canada), Jessica Arpin, circus cabaret (Switzerland), Jessica Lanigan, Hoola-hoops (Australia), Juzzie Smith, musician (Australia), Kate Moir, living statue (Canada), Kiki & Pascal, acrobatics (Australia),
Les Vitamines, Comical acrobats (Canada), Miss Australia 1963, comedy stunts (Australia), Oka, Music (Australia), Spring Action, trampoline (Canada), Zap Circus, fire and acrobatics (Australia), Diogo Alvares, Magic (Spain), and more.
