A SWEET RELEASE
Strong Lineup of Performers Announced for 28th Annual George Street Festival
The Biggest Little Street in North America comes alive for six days of musical entertainment
ST. JOHN’S (July 3, 2012) – The George Street Association has released the final line-up of artists to perform at the 28th Annual George Street Festival, presented by Bud Light, July 26-31, 2012.
Opening the Festival will be American rockers, Third Eye Blind who will take to the stage in Prince Edward Plaza on Opening Night, Thursday, July 26th.
Nightly performances will feature artists and bands that appeal to a wide variety of genres and tastes; from legendary country singer Kenny Rogers to new Canadian rock sensations The Sheepdogs. As tradition dictates, our annual George Street Kitchen Party will feature a number of crowd favourite Celtic bands who will provide a full day of traditional music on Saturday (July 28th), starting at 2:00pm and ending with a performance by The Navigators. This year's Festival will close out on Tuesday (Jul 31st) evening with a reunion performance by Thomas Trio & the Red Albino.
“We have continued to raise the bar with respect to the quality of entertainment that has ever performed on stage at a George Street Festival”, commented GSA Executive Director, Seamus O’Keefe. “The George Street Festival attracts music fans from all over North America and we are able to provide a collection of artists that our George Street patrons have asked for”. A unique addition to this year’s Festival will be the continuation of the World’s Largest Screech In ceremony on Sunday evening that will undoubtedly appeal to the numerous tourists that have travelled to St. John’s.
Support for this year’s Festival comes from corporate partners Bud Light, Lamb’s Rum, Rogers, Red Bull, North Atlantic Petroleum, Oz Fm, NTV, the Herald and the Delta St. John’s, enabling the Association to put together a line-up second to none during the popular St. John’s Time.

Born and raised in Newfoundland but living in Ontario for 32 years We were on George street July 25-27 and was not impressed. We thought there was things going on during the day but no there was nothing. One day we went to eat at Velmas on water street and another night we ate at the Pepper Mill. Wish there were something going on during the day as we were not interested in the bands at night because being from Ontario we can go see the bands at any time.. At least we had great weather that days we were there but fog up at cape spear and signal hill. Hope to see you all on George street some time again. . Maybe for the 30th Anniversary
