Kait Fennell – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Pilot, Bartender, Social Blogger, Videographer, Surfer, Adventurer

Place of Birth: Red Islands, Cape Breton, NS

Currently Resides: Currently La Libertad, El Salvador. When in Canada, Halifax, NS

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

The Backpackers Alteregos Café on Gottingen Street, Halifax.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub, home to the best pints of Guinness in town!

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

Kannon Beach Surf Shop (I can check the surf at the same time :))

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

From my parents house (it’s a lighthouse) where I grew up overlooking the Bras D’Or Lakes in Red Islands, Cape Breton.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Go surfing at Lawrencetown Beach or Point Michaud Beach in Cape Breton

2. Visit Cape Breton Island and before crossing the causeway, stop and eat a fresh lobster dinner in Port Hastings

3. Check out the live local talent (there’s something every night) and try a few of our local beers in downtown Halifax

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

That’s a hard one to sum up because there are so many things! The people for one - super friendly, super laid back, very community orientated even in the city, and they definitely know how to have a good time and if you are lucky you’ll run into a kitchen party. The landscapes: mountainous terrain with beautiful ocean views, the arts/music – there is so much local talent that it’s unbelievable, the history – home to the first European settlers, the Mik’mak Native Heritage, Acadian and Black history. And I cannot forget family - pretty much all of them reside in NS!! 🙂

Kait Fennell International Roxy Girl competionSABS Note of Noteworthiness

Huge congrats to Kait who has made it to the Top 25 in the International Roxy Girl Contest.

A very cool achievement in a competition that recognizes girls who... “are kind-hearted, generous, and love to have fun. Who dream big and are always up for a challenge and down for a good adventure”.
