Cormier celebrates the release his new album, "Somewhere in the Back of My Heart" (available July 3) this weekend at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, NS (June 29-July 1) and opens a music school named J.P. Cormier School of Strings in Sydney, NS, Thursday, July 5.

Cormier has spent most of his life on the road, playing thousands of shows and spending months at a time on tour.  Earlier this year, he announced that he would take a break from that life to concentrate on his craft and explore what made him want to be a traveling musician in the first place: the study and perfection of playing and producing music. For Cormier though, taking a break certainly did not mean slowing down. His break led to this month’s release of his fourteenth recording, the opening of a music school and the launch of an interactive website to connect with his fans worldwide.

J.P. CORMIER Somewhere in the Back of My Heart"Somewhere in the Back of My Heart"
is a brand new collection of songs.

Telling tales of love, loss, joy, and remembrance, the recording presents songs in a fresh new environment with an older, wiser, more mature storyteller, who goes back to basics with smart production and fewer frills.

Stan Roger Folk Festival
attendees can be the first to purchase the new album this weekend, where Cormier will be headlining.  The album, along with his back catalogue of music and other exclusive content, can be ordered online via Cormier’s website: www.jp-cormier.com

J.P. Cormier School of Strings, located in the East Side Arts Academy in Sydney, NS, will offer lessons in guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, bass and songwriting.

“After thirty years of touring it is with great pleasure that I have settled in Sydney.  Now I will be able to fill a request I've received thousands of times over the years: to share my knowledge and love of music with others,” said Cormier.  “I welcome all, young and old, from beginner to master. I will impart everything I can to make you a better and more confident player.”

J.P. Cormier is one of the most talented people I've ever worked with,” said veteran award-winning producer and engineer Jamie Foulds of Soundpark Studios, where Cormier recorded the majority of Somewhere in the Back of My Heart. “His musicianship simply defies description and his song writing transports you instantly into a world of his choosing. Even after more than 10 years, he can still blow me away.”
