A Royal Visit: Prince Charles & The Duchess of Cornwall

Prince Charles and Camilla arrive in New Brunswick May 20, 2012 photo credit Luck Now SentinalIn celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall began their short tour of Canada in New Brunswick.

Touching down Sunday evening in Fredericton, NB with welcoming weather fit for the Picture Province, the Royal couple enjoyed a great reception from dignitaries, military personnel and fans alike.

Prince Charles spoke and noted this visit was like a homecoming – having trained there as a helicopter pilot during the 1970's “I have fond memories of my own military service...at an exercise area in the middle of nowhere...”

More than 800 were present at the CFB Gagetown ceremony to both welcome the Royal Couple and pay tribute to the members of the military and their loved ones.

Prince Charles and Camilla left New Brunswick on a late Monday (-5/21/12) afternoon flight to Toronto for another days worth of visiting following which they will travel on to Saskatchewan before heading back to England on Wednesday night (05/23/12). SABS

Sunday:

7:45 p.m. AT — Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall arrive in New Brunswick at Saint John Airport.

Monday:

10:30 a.m. — Arrive at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown in New Brunswick to participate in an official arrival ceremony that includes a royal salute, an inspection of the guard of honour, a 21-gun salute and a speech by Prince Charles.

11:05 a.m. — Visit the Prince’s Operation Entrepreneur program at CFB Gagetown where the royal couple meet with military personnel enrolled in the project, which helps them start and grow their own businesses.

11:25 a.m. — Meeting with families of soldiers who have died.

11:45 a.m. — Government of Canada reception at CFB Gagetown.

1:10 p.m. — Arrive in Saint John, N.B., for heritage tour of Prince William Street.

1:25 p.m. — Arrive at Old Post Office Building for Canadian citizenship ceremony.

3:10 p.m.— Arrive at Hazen White-St. Francis School for a tour and to join in the school’s fun day activities in the playground.

4:30 p.m. — Depart Saint John Airport for Toronto Pearson International Airport.
