(New Glasgow, NS) – The New Glasgow Jubilee has announced another headliner for its August 3-5 event, Big Wreck will join previously announced acts Joel Plaskett Emergency, Classified, Kim Mitchell, Matt Andersen and many more.
Big Wreck will make their first appearance on the Jubilee stage on Saturday, August 4, giving their East Coast fans that have been appealing to the band the chance to see them on the right coast during the summer festival season. Big Wreck is without a doubt one of Canada’s favourite guitar-driven bands from the 1990s, with anthemic hits like “That Song” and “The Oaf”.
For this first time since 2001, the always innovative Ian Thornley has put his solo career on hold and reassembled Big Wreck. The band has been enjoying a rousing return to the airwaves, currently holding the #1 Rock Single in the country for the sixth week in a row.
Known for their hard hitting rhythm paired with blazing slide guitar and huge vocals from Thornley, Albatross, the third studio album, is now in stores and on iTunes under the independent “Anthem” record label. This label is overseen by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush.
Albatross debuted at #5 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart in Canada, hit #25 on the US Billboard HeatSeekers chart and is #5 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart alongside Jack White and Bruce Springsteen. This is an incredible feat for the band, as they are the first Canadian artist to hit #1 in over a year and the Jubilee is incredibly excited to have them on the bill.
“It's so great to have one of the great bands of the past two decades back on the scene, and what a comeback!”
The festival main stage line up for the award winning, three-day, music festival (in the order they appear each night) is as follows:
Saturday, August 4: Carry the Lost, Slowcoaster, Big Wreck, Classified and Dirty Deeds.
