Sea and be Scene

The St. John's IceCaps continue to enjoy a very successful season. They won the 3 games played during the past week and now have a home winning streak of 6 games. Additionally, all 30 home games played to date have been sold out. They lead the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference by a whopping 16 points and are in 2^nd place in the overall 30 team AHL, trailing the league leading Norfolk Admirals by 6 points but have 4 games in hand.

On Tuesday March 6^th the IceCaps defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5 – 2 on the road.

Arturs Kulda, one of the team’s steadiest defencemen had a goal and an assist, both shorthanded, to lead the IceCaps to victory.

Newcomer Raymond Sawada scored a goal and showed he is going to be a force for St.John’s.

On Friday March 9^th the IceCaps returned to the familiar confines of Mile One Centre and easily defeated the Hersey Bears 6 – 1.

Patrice Cormier, Moncton, NB recorded a hat trick and added an assist.

For the second straight game Cormier was selected as the first star. For those following the IceCaps regularly, it is evident Patrice is becoming a team leader.

On Saturday March 10 the IceCaps ground out a 3 – 2 shoot-out victory over the Bears.

Jason King,Corner Brook, NL scored his 17^th goal of the season in the third period and added the only goal of the shoot out to give the IceCaps the victory.

The IceCaps have a busy week coming up.  On Tuesday March 13^th and Wednesday March 14^th the Hamilton Bulldogs visit Mile One Centre followed by the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday March 17^th and Sunday March 18^th (4:00 PM start time)
