Smiling Jack on the IceCaps – Report #19

Posted: February 13, 2012

The IceCaps completed a highly successful home stand winning all four games played the past week.

They are now first overall in the 30 team American Hockey League. They lead the Eastern Conference by 5 points and lead the Atlantic Division by a whopping 12 points. And how about 28 consecutive sellouts for the St.John’s team. Those are some impressive stats for the new club.

Eddie PasqualeOn Tuesday February 7th the IceCaps defeated the Providence Bruins 2 - 0 with Eddie Pasquale recording the shutout.

Jason Desantis On Wednesday February 8th the IceCaps won 2 – 1 over the Bruins in overtime with Jason DeSantis scoring the winner on a pass from Jason King, Corner Brook, NL. Nathan McIver, Charlottetown, PEI was in the lineup again for the Bruins.

Jason King IceCaps #5On Saturday February 11th Jason King, on a beautiful goal, had the winning tally in a 4 – 3 victory over the Binghamton Senators. For King it was his 14th of the season.

On Sunday February 12th the IceCaps defeated the Senators 6 -3 with Captain Jason Jaffray and Ben Maxwell each scoring 2 goals. Jason King netted his 15th of the season in this contest.

In addressing the media following the Saturday game  - Head Coach Keith McCambridge had this to say about Jason King

“When I watch King play, he does a lot of things right for this team. He goes to the hard areas. He battles to retrieve pucks. He's good in his own zone. He's a leader on the bench. And from the circles down in the offensive zone, that goal was a direct result of a placement and where he can put the puck. That’s an NHL shot right there.”

Unfortunately, Patrice Cormier, Moncton NB missed all 4 games this week but it hoped he will return to action when the IceCaps next play on Friday February 17th.

The IceCaps start a 7 game road road trip in Hamilton on the 17th against the Bulldogs and then they face the Marlies in Toronto on Sunday February 19th.

Congratulations to Goalie Eddie Pasquale on being named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week - much deserved
