Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a coffee?

I like independent coffee shops best and I move around.  In St. John’s, I go to Coffee & Co, Hava Java, Rocket, Coffee Matters, Gracie Joe’s. In Corner Brook, it’s Brewed Awakenings; in Gander, it’s Giovanni’s; and in Grand Falls, it’s Murph’s Café. The Two Whales in Port Rexton is on my list!   I drink both coffee and tea.

Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a pint?

I’m not a big drinker but I consume film, theatre, music, words, and art.  I’ll go to any place that offers those…and maybe a little wine!

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Newfoundland & Labrador?

Downtown St. John’s has the best shops (and I have shopped across the country) and when the store owners are involved daily, the service is great.  I prefer small businesses to any major retailer.  And truthfully, I get my best clothes from the generosity of my friends!

Where in Newfoundland would we stand to see your favourite view?

You would go to New Bonaventure, Trinity Bay then drive up Church Hill, stop at my summer home and stand on the front bridge that my boyfriend Des Walsh built with our friend, Darren Clarke. MANY people stop to take photos beside our house.

I just found this link, this is our house, root cellar and greenhouse but it doesn’t give away the view!  Great spot for eagles, whales, porpoises, and fish of all kinds.

Name 3 things I’ve gotta do when I visit Newfoundland & Labrador:

1. Go to a festival- for film, the St. John’s Women’s or the Nickel; for dance, the Festival of New Dance; for writers, Woody Point, the March Hare are just two; for art, the 24 Hr Art Marathon; for theatre and music…there are so many!

2. Buy something created here.  At a gallery, music store, book shop, theatre, in a clothing store, at the roadside.

3. Hike.  East Coast Trails, anywhere in Gros Mourne, or the Skerwink Trail in Port Rexton, Trinity Bay. In early July, hike from New Bonaventure to Kerley’s Harbour to see fields of blue flag!  That used to be a secret…

I cheated…there’s so many more than three!

What makes Newfoundland & Labrador such a special place on earth for you?

I’ve tried, I have not yet found an accurate way to describe this love affair.
