John Grass profileHE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Brunswick's own John Grass took the competition for week 3 with his Chicken Grenades in the appetizer category.  That means the first 3 shows have been won by Maritimers - SWEET!!!

I must say - it's very cool to go into the supermarket and see these products ready to buy and enjoy.  I can't imagine what it feels like to be one of the contestants.

To Glo, Jacqui and now John - you've done our region proud - congrats!  Cheers to Crystal too - top 3 in the country ain't bad!!!

We've got one more contestant with ties to the East Coast still to come, but we'll be watching the entire season to see who will claim that 1/4 million and samplin'...oh there will be samplin'!!! SABS

A delicious new show will premiere tonight (10/19/11) on The Food Network at 9pmET/10pmAT and again on Global TV this coming Saturday (10/22/11).

Recipe to RichesImagine if they mixed American Idol with Top Chef Canada…that’s the blend for the tasty new reality series RECIPE TO RICHES

Like Idol it started with a nation-wide search, but instead of listening for outstanding voices – the judges were on the look-out for extraordinary recipes from everyday Canadians.  Thousands auditioned…only 21 finalists were selected.

“Each week three RECIPE TO RICHES contestants compete in one of seven food categories.    To win the evening and the national stage they have to demonstrate that their recipe is the one that can best be scaled and marketed.  The winners of each segment then compete in the season finale for the grand prize of $250,000 – the largest prize ever awarded on Canadian television.”

Recipe-to-Riches Contestants with East Coast ConnectionsThat search across Canada included a stop in the Maritimes (Halifax, NS) and we’re pleased to report 5 of the finalists hail from the East Coast.  They are Glo McNeill (NS), Jacqui Keseluk (NS), Crystal Peach (NS), John Grass (NB) and Natasha Langevin (NL/NB). You can see mini bios for each below and in the spirit of full disclosure…while we wish all the other contestants the best of luck…we’ll be cheering the loudest for this lot! (#hadtobesaid)

The show is hosted by Jesse Palmer (The Bachelor), and the competition is judged by a panel of experts including Laura Calder, host of French Food at Home, Tony Chapman, Founder and CEO of leading advertising agency Capital C, and Dana McCauley, Culinary Director at Janes Family Foods.  Then Galen Weston, the Executive Chairman of Loblaw, joins the judging panel for the final deliberation.

Recipe-to-Riches host and judges

And  when it comes to the judges – we’ll be cheering the loudest for former boss and always inspiration Tony Chapman.  A brilliant marketer, a stellar strategist, a constantly kind and generous boss – but we’re sure he’s gonna be the 'Simon' in this scenario.  (#safebet)

Be sure to tune in tonight for all the yummy fun! SABS
