Carleton Stone – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Musician

Place of Birth: Sydney, NS

Currently Resides: Sydney, NS

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

Wentworth Perk in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Great coffee, great people, and they have (free) live music every Tuesday and Thursday!

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

Governor’s Pub in Sydney or The Economy Shoe Shop in Halifax. Governor’s was the place where I really honed my craft as a musician in my early years of playing shows, so it is still nice to head back there for a drink and a nice meal. The Shoe Shop has become my ‘go-to’ spot in Halifax when I’m looking for a late-night snick-snack and a beer.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Nova Scotia?

Dressed in Time in Halifax. Always find some cool cowboy boots there!

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

At my parent’s cottage in L’ardoise, Nova Scotia; breathtaking view of the ocean from the south side of Cape Breton.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. See some live music – I would suggest visiting in October so you can catch Celtic Colours AND The Halifax Pop Explosion back to back.

2. Eat some food – lobster especially.

3. Make some friends!

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

Being surrounded by the ocean and the beautiful scenery, and all of my family and friends who live here. It’s a very tough place to leave!
