2011 Celtic ColoursYou only need glance at the schedule for the 2011 Celtic Colours International Festival (Oct. 7 - 15) to know you’re in for nine days of non-stop entertainment.  Now in its 15th year Celtic Colours is bigger and better than ever – and who can resist Cape Breton in the fall? Can’t beat it!

Between now and the kick-off concert 1 month from today – we’re going to profile some not-to-be-missed shows…and some you might have missed if we didn’t mention them, but my goodness you’ll be glad we did so you didn’t…suffice it to say we’ll do our best to get the word out and get you in on all the Celtic Colours fun.

Barra MacNeilsWe’re going to begin with the end of the festival for two reasons – 1. It’s a first for Celtic Colours and 2. It features the amazing Barra MacNeils.

So here’s the deal – for one week during Celtic Colours the Cape Breton super group will set up a studio in which they will collaborate and record with a different artist each day - songwriters from different traditions, a Scottish Gaelic singer from Barra, a multi-instrumentalist and more – cool right?! It gets better.

The Barra MacNeils' Celtic Roots & BranchesNot only will the sessions be video-taped to keep track of all that creativity, but the Barra MacNeils will host the closing concert bringing all of their collaborators together on stage for a blow the doors off finale! See what we mean?....................  NOT-TO-BE-MISSED!!!

The show entitled The Barra MacNeils' Celtic Roots & Branches will include performances by Ron Hynes ,Old Man Luedecke ,Ronald Bourgeois, Matt Minglewood ,Tim Edey,Fiona & Ciarán MacGillivray and Cathy Ann MacPhee.
